August Board Meeting Preview AND A New Board Governance System for 2017-2018

The August Board meeting will take place this Monday, August 14th.  The Curriculum and Ed Tech Committee starts at 4:30 and the Work Session session begins at 7:30.  Both meetings will be held in the district office and will be stream live via You Tube on our website.

Key Items for Discussion

  • Curriculum 
    This month the Board will review curriculum work done over the summer to implement previously approved curriculum changes.  Also, this year Math, Language Arts and World Languages are each in year 2 of the Curriculum Cycle - teams have been evaluating these programs and will be bringing updates to the Board throughout the year.
  • School Start Times 
    The Board will be briefed on the status of all the work that has gone on over the summer to implement the new school start times.  Much work has been done to get the logistics set up to insure a smooth transition and the Board and Administration will be monitoring progress closely throughout the year.
  • New Immunization Requirements 
    The state has updated immunization requirements.  Students will need to meet the new requirements before being allowed in school.  Communications have gone out to all parents defining the new requirements and this month the immunization policy will be updated to reflect these changes.
  • Facilities Update
    The Buildings and Grounds folks have been busy installing new roofs, upgrading HVAC units, paving parking lots and more.  Learn more about the maintenance and upgrades to you schools.
