On the Agenda this Month

Technology Update
: The administration will be making a proposal to increase the use of Chromebooks along with expanding the use of the Canvas Learning Management System for next school year. Part of the proposed plan calls for one middle school team to participate in a 1:1 pilot.   Review the Proposal.

Trimester Proposal for Elementary Schools: Trimesters may be a more efficient and effective schedule for elementary schools.  This idea was reviewed with the Curriculum Council, the public and by the Board last month.  The proposal now includes details and, if approved by the Board this month, it will go into effect for all elementary schools next year.  Review the Proposal.

Building Upgrades at Patton:  Last month the Board authorized the buildings and grounds department to collect bids for this summer's building upgrades, most of which will involve Patton.  This month's update focuses on the timeframe.  Review the Blueprint Document

Budget Update:  The Board will review an updated budget for next year, discussing the cost drivers and implications to taxes.

Policy: The Board continues its comprehensive review of policies.

Understanding Board Meetings
The Board holds two public sessions monthly, on the second and third Monday of the month.

On the second Monday of the month the Curriculum and Educational Technology Committee meeting and full Board work session are held.  These meetings are where the "real discussions" happen, featuring presentations, reviews and friendly debate on a variety of important topics. Time is always set aside for public comment.

Public comment is welcomed and encouraged, as these are the meetings when the Board members deliberate on the items before them.

On the third Monday of the month the Board meets to take action on the agenda items for that month. Time is set aside for public comment in these meetings as well.
