Understanding Board Meetings

The Board holds two public sessions monthly, on the second and third Monday of the month.

On the second Monday of the month the Curriculum and Educational Technology Committee meeting and full Board work session are held.  These meetings are where the "real discussions" happen, featuring presentations, reviews and friendly debate on a variety of important topics. Time is always set aside for public comment.

Public comment is welcomed and encouraged, as these are the meetings when the Board members deliberate on the items before them.

On the third Monday of the month the Board meets to take action on the agenda items for that month. Time is set aside for public comment in these meetings as well.

This Month's Board Meeting Schedule

  • Curriculum and Educational Technology Committee - Mar 9, 4:30 - District Office

  • Board Work Session - Mar 9, 7:00 - District Office (Note:  This meeting, normally held at 6:30, is moved to 7:00 to allow the Board time to hold its personnel meeting, which is a closed executive session)

  • Board Meeting - Mar 16, 7:30 - CFES

On the Agenda this Month

  • Curriculum and Educational Technology - Mar 9, 4:30 - District Office

    • Technology Update: This will be part 2 of the update.  The last update focused on plans to roll out a Learning Management System and this month the Board will review strategies and projects related to networks, databases and governance. Review the Presentation.

    • Trimester Proposal for Elementary Schools: Trimesters may be a more efficient and effective schedule for elementary schools.  This idea was reviewed with the Curriculum Council and now comes to the Board for further review and discussion. Review the Proposal.

    • Art Student Recognition:  The District Office is now adorned with wonderful artwork from our student body and many of the artists will be on hand to receive awards and recognition.

    • Communications:  There are always so many things going on in our District. This month's communications update will include an announcement about an exciting award that the "Patton Project" has just received.

    • Legislative:  The Board will review the Governor's recent budget proposal and how it would impact our district if approved. Review the Presentation.
