Board Meeting Recap - Redistricting Study

December Board Meeting Recap: Special Meeting of the Board to Review Redistricting Study Recommendations

No Redistricting is needed

This month's special meeting of the Board took place in the district office, Tuesday, December 16th at 7:00 pm.  The one hour and 10 minute meeting was focused solely on the Redistricting Study.  An advisory committee reviewed the consultant's projections on Monday, December 15th and decided that no redistricting is needed and therefore the current elementary school attendance borders will remain as is.

John Sanville presented the findings and the Administration's recommendations to the Board.  The Board discussion that followed was centered around vetting the numbers and insuring contingency plans were in place so that our educational programs would not be impacted even if growth exceeded projections.

Although, there is a high degree of comfort with the projections, everyone agreed that it is prudent to keep an eye on things and to have backup plans.  Next steps include:

  • Administration will monitor enrollments and update projections periodically.

  • Trigger points will be developed should future action be needed.

  • The Administration will consider if there are any further accommodations needed and present them at the January Board meeting.

Questions or Concerns?

A lot of data analysis and deliberation went into this decision, not all of which can be easily explained in a Board meeting recap document or through the presentation itself.  The presentation is a synthesis of extensive reports, discussions and scenario planning.
