January Meeting Recap

@ The January Meeting...









1. Superintendent Contract
The Board of Directors has reached a Tentative Agreement with School Superintendent Dr. John Sanville on a Successor Contract for his ongoing employment, covering the period of September 1, 2014 through August 31, 2018, inclusive.  The terms of this contract are as follows:
  • A Salary of $210,000, increasing annually at a rate equal to the Act 1 Index;
  • An increase in paid vacation days from 25 per contract year to 30 per contract year, and;
  • A dollar-for-dollar match on payments made by Dr. Sanville towards a qualified retirement  plan, not to exceed $700 per month or $8,400 per year.

2. MLK Day of Service
The MLK Day of Service included a canned food drive this year in support of the Kennett Food Bank.  This cooperative venture with the Kennett School District featured friendly competition between the two district superintendents yielding a record breaking 8 tons of donations!.  Over 1,000 students and community members came out to support the canned food drive at location across both school districts.  In the end the it was a tie between the two districts - truly everyone was a winner.

5. Board Recognition
January is School Board Recognition Month and  Dr. Sanville thanked the board for their service.   Keith Knauss and Jeff Hellrung were recognized as the two longest serving board members with 8 years of service each.

6. Board Retreat
The Board of Directors held a retreat gathering at the Brandywine River Museum on Saturday, January 25, from 8 AM to Noon.  Click here to view the retreat agenda.
